For printing, and i toyed with this idea also, you could write/get an
Applescript that, running in the background, would look for the
existence of a file called like XYOUT.PS. This script would then open it
in Preview, and then print the file to your printer.
I think i had found/hacked a script to do this, but i didn't want the
hassle of something else running in the background, so i just manually
send something to the printer this way.

Buy you can do something like this.
