UNDO

Here's my report from the bleeding edge: it's no go for me so far.
I couldn't get timed backup to work, so I also tried $K method. No go there either, neither with nor without TAME.
With $K I get an "access denied" error when I hit ctrl-5 to which I have
this assigned:
6=$K,bc,c,i, ,¦,¦,¦,cl,cl
After the "access denied," I see the three bars for the CI as normal, but no file is created in the UD directory. That directory was originally marked "read only" and I changed it in the Properties (in Explorer), but it keeps coming back. I used Patricia's suggestion of doing this at a DOS prompt:
ATTRIB -R -A c:\xy\*.* /s

(my Xy directory is indeed c:\xy)
It keeps getting set back to read only, however, and I assume this is the error (even though I can make a regular file in C:\XY\UD).

At any rate, here's what I have as my installation.
1. Program file is named: XyWrite (and that is what shows up in the Windows title bar; I'm running in windowed mode).
2. Startup.int: I have the JM 2.undo.intQ2 (and it's after xywwweb.u2 is
loaded.

3. I have assigned $K to ctrl-5, per above.

4. I have this at the *bottom* of Xywwweb.reg:
;
[UnDo]
; Scan code of key used to trigger backups
UnDoKeys=K
; (91 is ScrollLock) 2d is "Insert" key (not numpad0)
; Check document every 10 seconds to see if needs backup
UnDoFreq=
; number of backups to maintain
UnDoDepth=100

5. My Xy director (C:\XY) does have kmd.exe, undo.exe, NBkill.exe
6. I do have the frames in the U2 (at the top of the file--as the first "active" portion. Hmmm, I wonder if it's being interfered with by something else in my U2. Seems unlikely.

I tried doing:
undo.int
to no avail. And I saw no message on either the command line or the prompt line after doing that.
Also, when trying out the $T version, I tried the IDKEY test Robert
suggested, but it didn't jump to the $T key. I tried scroll lock (70/91)
and Insert (91/2D). Neither worked.

Help would be appreciated.
