Re: Valid SL values

Further to Manuel's suggestion:

I think it would be useful to make a collection of XyWrite SL values
valid for different operating systems (obviously, when combined with
proper system screen buffer and window size settings). This is my
contribution to that list:
Windows 98SE
Full screen: 25 / 50
XyWrite running in a window: 25 / 50
Windows 2000
Full screen: 25 / 50
XyWrite running in a window: 25 / 28 / 50
NT4
Full screen: 25 / 28 / 50
XyWrite running in a window: 25 / 28 / 50
Maybe other members of the list could add different values.
--------

I'm running Xy3/4 in w2k on a 48cm (diagonal) LCD monitor
I run windowed mode only; SL=38 lines
PIF properties settings: screen buffer size width 80 x height 43
PIF properties settings: window size width 80 x height 41
w2k reverts to the 43/41 values even if I reset them manually to match
SL=38 in *.PRN (Xy3) settings.dfl (Xy4).

I find that 38 screen lines nearly fills the monitor, giving me the
no-distractions look that several people, like myself, like about the
Xy-DOS world.

Setting DF EG=2 (EGA monitor option in settings.dfl), which the manual
claimed would yield 43 screen lines on a color monitor, produced vastly
more than 43 lines plus a scroll bar to the right of the DOS window. Not
what I wanted at all.
