RE: Searching for text across subdirectories

Patricia,

The difference is speed. The big difference is between an indexed search
and an unindexed search. An unindexed search, with FIND for example, simply
greps through file after file, every time you want to search for a string.
With a reasonable number of files, that can take a long time. An indexed
search, with dTsearch or ZyIndex, first creates a huge index to every word
in every file, which can take a long time, and then lets you find any word
or combination almost instantly.
