System memory vs. motherboard memory--off topic

Thanks to Patricia's inquiry, I'm beginning to think I have less memory
than I thought. System info says 512 Megs but both BelArc advisor and Task
Manager say 386. Does anyone know the significance of System info saying:

Total Physical Memory	512.00 MB
