RE: SmartWords

Ken ―

Thanks for your update on the progress of SmartWords. Could you answer a couple of implementation
questions for me?

	1) Leslie Bialler mentioned this morning on this list that the SS/US features of SmartWords are greatly enhanced from Xy4. Could you (or perhaps Leslie) expand on this? How exactly does this feature work in the new SmartWords? One of the impediments to my ongoing use of the XyWrite engine is that it doesn't support styles in a way that is analogous either to HTML/XML or to Ventura and other page layout programs. ― i.e., in Xy4 there seems to be no way to turn "on" a style and then turn it "off" again, without turning "on" another style. In other words, in Xy4 appears to work like ..., rather than working like .... The latter is analogous to HTML/XML; the former is not. In this regard, how does the "style" function in SmartWords operate?

	2) What character set(s) does SmartWords use? Does it use the MS-DOS/OEM character set (a la
XyWrite), or does it use the ANSI character set (a la Unicode and other Windows apps)? Seems to me
that, for integration with other Windows and Web applications, it would be important to support the
ANSI character set.

Thank you in advance for any light you can shed on these questions.
