This is a known problem. There is a U2 routine that overcomes it. Command
EF to begin editing a footnote (or other marker) -- put the cursor on
the marker, of course; EF again to retain the footnote edits and
close the footnote window.
This routine can be assigned to key:
nn=JM,2,.,e,f,Q2
