I haven't been following closely, but I think I understood someone to refer
to the need to number pages manually in Word ... Far be it from me to
defend the Word Processor From Hell, but you *can* get automatic page
numbering in Word (at least, in my copy of Word 6) - it has to do with
headers & footers, which (bizarrely - but what is there about the program
that isn't bizarre?) come under "View" on the button bar rather than
Format.

PS: But I can't (of course) figure out how to make MSW do something
enormously helpful, viz. print "p. 0 of X" (which in Xy is childishly
simple).
