Re: Screw the Rules

Looks like Holmgren's back for who knows where. E-Mail is fun again.

Re: ADT - when I saw Harry's post about dos dialers - I started
fooling around with adt again - didn't get very far - because of
the limitations you mentioned and modern hardware and operating
systems. Ran through a bunch of shareware dos dialers (99% crap)
but found 1 that works simply. i.e. shell, dial with cmd line
arg - wait about 5 seconds then exit back to xyw. It uses some
sort of config file to figure out com port, speed, init string, etc
- Problems: it uses to much memory (with a big phone list on the
screen in xyw, not much memory left to shell out to dos. And it
won't release control of the com port when it exits back to xyw.
-Another interesting facet of trying to use dos programs under
Win95 - when Xyw (3+) is running in Dos-mode (windows VMM... driver
not in memory) the dos dialer won't work (hangs actually) - But
when xyw running under Win95, it works. - I'll post the name of
the simplest dos dialer I found when I get back to the office. - I'm anxious
to see the next iteration of adt (don't care what sort of "front
end" you put on it) - Nowadays with all the damn voice mail systems
dialing the phone has become a big pain the ass.

Welcome back (did you find work?)
