Re: File Conversion

Unless I've misread the manual, the CALL command automatically converts
files from RFT:DCA and L3P formats to XyWrite format.
One doesn't need to know the filenames. The filters are "activated" or
invoked automatically by selecting the one you want from the menu items
Import and Save As.
Am I being dense, or are people making a problem where no problem exists?
As Leslie said, normal installation of XW 4 for Windows or for DOS puts
them in a subdirectory under the XW or the XY4 directory. What reason would
there be for running them other than as menu choices when importing or
saving as?
This capability is one of the features I most value about XyWrite. If
only TTG would provide new filters for new WP and Word versions ...
And have we forgotten that most word processing programs can save as
ASCII, which is XyWrite's native tongue?
