I was afraid someone would ask. The short answer is that I use the
Febooti Command Line Email program to send mail
http://www.febooti.com/products/command-line-email/, and the
long-defunct InnoVal Software's Hacksaw.exe to download messages.
Bits and pieces of my system are in U2, but since it's a tad
idiosyncratic I've never bothered to document it fully. If all you
want is to read your mail in XyWrite, there's a quick-and-dirty
mail download routine in XyPy, my Python extensions for Xy4-DOS
and the Jumbo U2 https://users.datarealm.com/xywwweb/#xypy.
You'll need to install Python 3 and XyPy; instructions are in the
documentation.
