  David,
That error message usually means that you have an extra format chevron in your file(s)
someplace. It doesn't matter how powerful your rig is. Or what your op sys is. If my
hunch is right, you would have gotten the same message if you were running an 8088 with
DOS 3.3 and a Star 9-pin printer.

I suggest the following steps.

1. In normal mode search for a closing chevron. If you find it, you will find the
improper formatting command and your problem will be solved. If not,

2. Go into expanded and search for two close chevrons. If that doth not work,

3. Go to expanded mode and search for open chevron wild string close chevron. Hopefully
you will find it that way. Finally, if that does not work,

4. Search for all open chevrons and replace them with the < then search for all the close
chevrons and replace them with the >. That should certainly do the job, but finding the
culprit will be tedious more than somewhat.

Since you mention a series of files you may have to do this for every one.
As you didn't say whether you chain print or not, I'm not sure as to the extent of the
damage.

Good luck, pard!
