zipped files

      I have difficulty in creating a zipped file. From Pkware
software, I have such files as Pkunzip.exe, pkzip.exe, pkzipfix.exe, but
when I try to zip either a text file or a XPL program, it comes up with a
message error, use pkzipfix. Here again nothing happens as it says not a zip
file. To zip a file I use pkzip. Where am I going wrong? I have also
downloaded the windows version of this program but the results are the same.
