My thanks to various people for refreshing my memory about the proper
spelling of Atex. The .kbd file distributed by XyQuest that reproduced the
machine was, I believe, xeta.kbd (Atex, backwards.) I write novels and once,
on a publicity tour, was interviewed in a newspaper editing room where the
machines were being used, and talked to a reporter about it. The great
advantage to the Atex machine, as he explained it, was that you could have
wire service copy on one side of the (split) screen, and use it to write your
particular version of the story, editing it, and cutting and pasting in local
references. I didn't mean anything underhanded by "ripped off" -- merely
that XyWrite reproduced the functionality of the machine in a much cheaper
form. I presume that Atex eventually went to way of most dedicated word
processors, like Wang.
Cheers,
