Graphics Card for Xy 3.57?

I've been using an xt with a ttl graphics card for years. (TTL is text
mode only, very sharp characters, monochrome display). It's time to trade
up, and I want to get a graphics card that will let me control dos refresh
rates, dos colors and the number of characters, lines and columns that
appear on the screen, so I can use xy 3.57 as comfortably on a 17" color
monitor as I do on a 12" amber.

Although this may seem to be a hardware question, I've risked antagonizing
those of you who view the allowable subject list narrowly because this is
the only place I can get feedback from folks who are using xywrite. On the
various hardware lists, newsgroups and compuserve forums I've read dos
performance is evaluated in terms of games, not text.

And although it would seem that for dos text, any card would do, Matrox's
top window's accelerator, the Millenium, can't do a higher refresh rate
than 60 Hz. in dos, which is much too low.

So, I apologize to anyone who resents this question, and I appreciate any
feedback for those kind enough to help.
