Re: Windows NT

Harry the B points out that he has never had a Windows 95 crash
with XyDOS. Not surprising.

The problem with Win95 comes about with multitasking, esp. with
DOS or 16-bit programs. Unlike NT, Win95 does not keep them
tightly insulated in their own memory spaces, so unless they are
written with excruciating politeness, they tend to get in each
other's way. That is where my crashes tend to come from. For
instance, I am now finishing up a book on XyDOS, and going back
and forth to the bibliography, which is in a 16-bit Windows
program because it has Chinese in it. To use the latter I must
run at the same time a 16-bit Chinese input program. If I
occasionally consult a database in 16-bit AskSam, you can
understand that my OS is likely sooner or later to become addled.

Cheers,
