lower o slash problem

Thanks to those who provided the ES 1 solution to my message box problem.
I vaguely recall doing something similar in XyW 3.5x years ago. I found
another workaround, not as efficient: set both df mb=0 and eb=0 (turn off
both the message box and the error beep). But ES 1 is much faster.

Next problem. Converting from XyWrite/Windows to Quark XPress tags,
I run a long series of search and replaces with accented characters
as the search-for element and the corresponding Mac character slot
number ("<\#___>") as the replace element. It works fine (so long as you
use "cha") except for the lower-case o slash, character [809] in the
XyWrite set. When my routine hits it, I get a "separator is missing"
message and then an unhappy black face (ASCII 02) is inserted elsewhere in
my text followed by the replace string. But the target character (o slash)
is left untouched.

Sure looks like a bug to me.

I guess I should note that, to make this routine easy for the editors to
run, I have added a pad to the menu bar with a pull-down that calls a
series of "type 5" commands in XWDLG.DLG. The commands begin with the
mandatory ASCII 02, if that has anything to do with this anomaly.

Any ideas? We publish the works of a melancholy Dane named Kierkegaard, so
we do encounter that o slash and need to get it into Quark.
