Umm...what am I, chopped liver? (JUST KIDDING...;)

Actually, lemme briefly explain what I'm doing, so somebody can tell me: A: I'm a genius or B: I'm a moron, and what a stupid thing to do....(this isn't really a hijack of this thread, it's more of a ...to paraphrase Flash...side-lurch...;)

I'm using XPL and xywrite to make progress notes for patient encounters (as a physician)...99% of medicine is same old, same old...and XPL makes grabbing and appending text files so ridiculously easy and fast...and XPL also enables me to jump to the command line, type in a few characters, and voila!! the text is tweaked for that particular encounter, AND all the prescriptions are ready to print out...all with a few keystrokes, and I don't have to spend $60,000 on some $*%#@!@! database-engined, server-networked, menu-driven electronic medical record that takes FOREVER to update screens (oh, the horror, the horror...)

Just my two cents...although, if anyone is interested in participating in resurrecting XyWrite for this express purpose, we could put together a corporation and it might even make money someday (but don't hold your breath...)

Best, Charles

Harry,

<3.55 to 3.58 isn't even an upgrade.>

Point well taken, It's an up-lurch, I reckon.

know.> (Nearly) quotidianly.

than for 3>

As long as there is still at least one person out there who knows 3
better than I (you know who you are, and many thanks), I am getting more
than my money's worth out of this forum. Realistically, both threebies
and fourblers are endangered species. Apart from a German graduate
student six months ago, when was the last time we signed on a new
recruit? The Catholic priesthood is recruiting faster than we are!

you probably couldn't tell which one you were using.>

I need fast scrolling of very long files, and 3 does that faster than 4,
on my rig at least (maybe not on yours). 3 appears to manage memory
differently than 4; I did notice, actually, when I scrolled through the
same file as a test.

Anyway, thanks for the support on logins.

Cheers,

PS Thanks to Carl too for explaining what's going on behind the
curtain/under the hood.
