You're right. They are merely *unindexed*. So now all I have to do is
memorize both manuals, and everything will be fine. In fact, the lack of
index-reference is a feature not a bug, it motivates us to RTFM.

Maybe someone should scan in the two Xy4 manuals so we could SEarch for the
unindexed stuff.
