Indeed. I find the Wikipedia most useful for recent technical terminology
(e.g., what is the distinction between a flash drive and jump drive?),
where it's not easy to find answers elsewhere. Someone with an odd
concern for details on a technical topic always seems to have devoted
time and energy to a wiki. I think it's apt that people in this group are
sprucing up the XyWrite entry.
But if I want to read a really good article on the history of WWI, I'll go
to the Britannica--and not the most recent edition, but say the 1947-48,
where you can find articles written by military personnel who were
involved in the battles. Amazing article on the crusades in that same
edition, I recall.
As usual, it's a question of finding the best source for a particular
topic, and that's not always easy. And you usually have to read at least
three different reference sources to form a good idea of the hazy areas.
