Thanks you, sir. Re my "new guy" experience: It worked to my advantage.
Within a day, I got a clear, useful answer from somebody with knowledge
*and* manners. I sincerely appreciate that.

Also, I got column material: Apparently, there's not only the technophobic,
take-to-the-hills Y2K cult, there's also a nothing-can-go-wrong Y2K cult
just itching to preach the message, with websites and everything. Ain't
America great?
