That tiny NTVDM display on my laptop seems to have been due to my
inadvertently hitting a ctrl-alt hotkey that changed a setting in the
graphics adapter. And I misconstrued the coincidence of the very
recent uninstall of TAME as causal--a familiar bit of post hoc ergo
propter hoc fallacy. Thanks again to Michael Norman and several
others who followed the saga and offered counsel.
