Hi Paul,

Windows 7 is great and its market share is still almost half of all
Windows versions, but on the other hand support for Win7 is soon coming
to an end, see:

So, if you are buying a new Windows system and plan to keep it for a
while, Win10 might still be a reasonable choice.


There are, of course, other alternatives like Linux and Mac but Windows
maybe offers the easiest upgrade path. And if you do not want to make a
long-time commitment, there are budget alternatives like fully equipped
second-hand Windows 7 Xeon workstations that can be had for a small
amount of money.
