Printer Driver

I just bought a new printer, Lexmark i3, usb port, which
supposedly will print dos files but is refusing to do so at
the moment.
Lexmark tech says drivers for HP deskjet 500 and 500C, or HP
LaserjetII are likely choices, and my XYdos printer file
lists all of these but, for the life of me, I suddenly can't
remember the steps involved in choosing a printer driver.
It's not like I didn't do this just a few months ago when I
borrowed an HP printer.
Anyway, I use Xydos4.018 in Win98SE on a Dell Inspiron 3200
laptop.
Help will be greatly and humbly appreciated.
