RE: windows xp and dos

Title: RE: windows xp and dos

After all the many times it has been asked how to make Xy run in full screen in Win2000, this is the only answer that has worked for me (although there's still a few inches of screen at the bottom that isn't Xy...I can live with that on my 19 in. monitor).

Thank you very much, Robert

Hi,
I do not run Xp, but WIN2Kpro... both are built on the same
technology.
There was not problem in getting XYDos to run under WIN2K... it
was harder to make it run full screen (but simple, finally, by adding
two defaults to startup.int [default eg=2 BX and default eg=0]).  I
don't find the display in anyway ugly.  Although, at home I have a TFT
display, in which XYDos is ugly.  (I got through to the ViewSonic folks
who explained that that is a function of the higher screen resolution
demanded by TFT and the way it is displayed ... [ie a hardware problem].)
You will have some problems with paths, etc. which can be fixed
by altering autoexec.nt specifically for XYDos.  (I called it autoxy4.nt.)
There are two "dos" processors in WIN2K...   one is cmd.exe and
the other is command.com.  The latter is invoked by the former and has
some major restrictions on it.  Go to Start>RUN and type in cmd.  Voila!
a dos box.
Best,
Bob
