I've tried using Xy4 to see if it would handle large files any differently...no such luck.

I don't know anything about the ci/ch issue (never had a problem with
either), but I wonder:
if you work work with very large files, would XY4 not be better for you? I
remember
that XY3 tends to get *really* clunky at about 4 MB and higher.
