I was wrong. The MODE command does not work when placed in
STARTUP.INT. It's necessary to shell to DOS, after STARTUP.INT
finishes, to issue the command. So I think I'll just leave things as
they are. In a pinch, a new user can always use the menus (Alt-W,X)
to maximize the current window.
