Re: Interoperability between XY4 and Notabene 9/10

sorry, wrong Paul -- shouldn't send emails before first cup of coffee.

Isn't that for Dosemu under linux? I'm running with Windows XP as the host operating system and XY4 in a command window.

I assume you've played around with the character set settings in .dosemurc?

I have been trying to establish file compatibility between a XY4 in a
window in XP and Notabene 9 and 10, without a great deal of success.
(I cannot use XY4 full screen because I operate my monitor in portrait
orientation and full screen is always landscape.) I usually work in
Notabene now; if I take one of my NB files and open it in XY4, I can
get all the accented characters to translate correctly if I use
codepage 1252 (as per Robert's ANSI instructions in help) but it also
changes the look of XY4, so that for example the line between the
status line and text becomes a row of
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ's.
In addition, any text generated with accented characters under
codepage 1252 neither reads correctly in XY4 nor translates into NB. I
presume I need a new font too, but have been unable to solve this
problem yet.

Going the other way I cannot find a convenient way of importing text
generated in XY4 in NB; I've tried XY2ANSI and the various import
filters in NB for ANSI and DOS. The only method that appears to work
is to save the file in XY4 as RTF and then open that in NB but that is
far too cumbersome for my purposes.

I an not certain if Robert's ANSI1252.ZIP package will help here by
allowing me to generate and read text in an XY4 window in codepage
1252. However I cannot find a copy of the file to try it out. Is
there anybody here on the list who operates in this way regularly who
can suggest the simplest way of accomplishing this.
