Re: Workaround for DIR in VBox

Carl,

If you are looking for a reasonably priced recorder, check out BB
FlashBack Standard Edition (http://www.bbsoftware.co.uk/) which works
well with virtual machines (VBox, VirtualPC 2007) and other stuff. This
is a British software company which makes a product that might be better
than Camtasia for casual users. There is a free trial edition. Check it
first before committing yourself. I liked the trial so much that I
bought the standard edition. I am planning to do commercial
presentations with this stuff.

By the way, VirtualPC 2007 does not have the Xy4 DIR problem. I think
the problem is due to lacking DOS support in VBox. The only virtual
solution that really supports DOS programs is VirtualPC 2007 with 2004
DOS additions.

Thanks, Harry. It's not a first. Robert once posted a vid on how to configure NotaBene to behave like XyWrite. I used a barebones freebie called ScreenRecorder: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2009.03.utilityspotlight2.aspx I also tried freeware called CamStudio, but was unable to tame it. I'll probably eventually spring for a licensed copy of Camtasia, which is a full video recorder/editor, but not cheap. -- Carl Distefano cld@xxxxxxxx
