save to another drive gotcha

I now save to two drives, y, a data drive on my local computer, and
w:, a network drive. If I execute the command y:,w: from the command
line, all is well.
However, in startup.int, the command
[BC]y:,w: [carriage return]
doesn't seem to register. I haven't yet tried
[BX]y:,w:[XC]
I was wondering if anyone, or more particularly, let's just come out
with it, Carl, might have some insight into this, which I seem to
remember is a known bit of behaviour?
