Keyboard recording problem

I'm a newbie to this list and a formet NB user, but could someone shed some light on the
Playback/Record
mechanism. I have recorded keystrokes, assigned them to a key, but they do not play.

The only way that i am able to automate my relatively simple process is to enter the procedure as a
program and
then RUN the program.

If this is in the archive somewhere, please forgive me!

Am i missing something?
