I've been using lowercase forever:

ctrlx=29,99
altx=56
meta=104
shift=42,54,n
caps=58,T:c
Of course, I can't say that I never have problems (notably with idkey.pgm).
Maybe lower-case is subtly impairing me--I'll try upper and changing the
two previously unchanged table names (shift and caps).
