Re: Installing Xy under 32-bit Win

Dear Patricia,

Many thanks for your reply.

I believe when I put XyWin on my "new" machine a few years ago, I did just
copy files from my laptop using Laplink, and everything worked fine.
However, something is corrupted. To install from the original version 4.12
disks (which I have), one has to boot Windows in a special way. I had that
information from The Technology Group (sadly no more; does anyone know any
way to contact, for example, Kenneth Frank?), but cannot find it. I was
hoping someone else also had that information. (I got very close the other
evening, but failed at the last moment because I couldn't load HIMEM.SYS and
keep XyWin happy simultaneously.)

I killed all the system files on my desktop and copied the files from my
laptop, but still I got the RWFactory error message. I even tried using a
new directory, but the same thing happened. (I has since occurred to me that
that might be because my STARTUP.INT file, for example, defaults to \XW. I
will try changing it and see if that works.)

Phillip
