Re: NB 10 and Mac and Linux

Yes, it is Big News.   It needs to be take with a grain of salt, though.

The WINE project provides a way of running Windows programs without using/purchasing the Windows operating system.

I have tried the current version of WINE (downloaded 2013-04-25 from http://sourceforge.net/projects/darwine/?source=dlp), along with the current version of X11 (http://xquartz.macosforge.org/landing/).

So far I have not been able to get the latest NB 10 beta to install properly.

I get a series of error messages (5, I think) similar to this:

"Unable to register the DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x1."

This is more or less the same problem I had when trying earlier versions of NB.

The WINE installation installs and runs WinEdt, a heavy-duty editor designed for the LaTeX system, and it runs Internet Explorer.

The page advertising the latest beta release of NB 10 says it should run under WINE on both Mac and Linux!

Does anyone know anything about implementing WINE on a Mac?

Am I wrong in thinking this is Big News?
