Re: Windows vs DOS XyWrite vs the future?

I tried OS/2Win about a month ago. It installed with no trouble, but I had
problems with the COMM ports that led me to abandon it. Neithr ProComm Plus
2.0 or WinFax would work. XyWin and NB worked fine, so did Ventura. I did not
notice any really appreciable speed advantage, however.

I am now using Windows 3.1 with Win32s (required for Mosaic) and everything
works well. But I am eagerly awaiting Chicago (or Windows 4.0) because of its
32 bit capabilities and Internet interface.

I've had the same experience as Nathan with IBM. This goes back a long way too,
all the way back to the early 80's. Microsoft seems to take its customers
seriously. That's part of the reason there are so many Windows users and so few
OS/2 users. Unlike Harmon, I don't think Windows is a dead end, though DOS
certainly is. The new Windows will not even require DOS. I've known this for
some time. It was one of the reasons I moved to Xywin, though I still use
NB from time to time.
