In this day of super large ram of 1 to 4 gigs, is it possible to create a ram drive under any versions of windows which xywrite could be directed to use for overflow so as to get around the memory limitations in Xywrite itself.

Not in the way you mean. Overflows of file space already go to a disk file,
and it doesn't matter whether it's ram or hard disk. The other memory
limitations (64k for programs I think--something like that anyway) cannot
be set to page out to disk. Again, the kind of mass storage--ram drive or
hard drive or flash drive--is of no account here.
