I'm reasonably certain that even recent radio ads for The Notebook Shop -- a local chain of 4 stores
that specialize in top brand notebook PCs -- say they will _still_ sell you *current* models with XP
installed, if the customer prefers it. They also do business online, extending their reach well
beyond this area.
I don't have the url handy, but if you Google it they'd be the only outfit by that name in the S.
Calif. area.

According to sales figures released recently, more people are switching to laptops as their primary
computer anyway. (Not me, but that seems to be the trend.)

And Frys is still selling the XP version that is intended for system builders, but anyone could buy
that license.
