Xy4 in Windows 95

When I tried to install Xy4 in Windows 95 I got a message that said
something to the effect "Critical DOS Error" and refused to let me
proceed. I had to intercept Windows 95 before it loaded to get a DOS
prompt and install there. Now to use Xy4, I still have to interrupt
the Windows 95 load so that I can run Xy4. Is there a way around this?
