Re: keycode program

The problem wasn't that Myron's code brought NB down, but something more
sneaky: It made NB impossible to exit from; hitting "esc" just returned
the value for that key. Closing NB and reopening it still left it with the
routine running and un-exitable from. It did not freeze Windows, but I had
to reboot in order to get back to a usable NBWin. And the code values
returned were too long. This is with NB 6.1 in Win XP--which, from the
various conversations, was perhaps relevant. It is always possible that I
did something dumb to screw it up, but I'm not sure how--like I've done a
lot of XY and NB configuring, some XPL programming, and lots of other
programming (Pascal and stuff like that. I could try it again--and might
next time I feel like rebooting--but it sure did it the first time, and
from the NB list it appears that I was not alone.
                Cheers,
                David

snip snip
The basic code of Myron's revision does adhere to the original and does work,
in both Xy4 and NB, even if it won't print to the screen anymore and the
SUbroutine mod makes no sense. Crippled it may be, but it's inconceivable that
it could bring NB down, much less necessitate a computer reboot.
