Re: Way Off Topic--Education

Dear Bill,

You are quite right that the attitude an editor takes with a writer vs. one she or he is free to take exclusively with words is, indeed, very different, and I am relieved to know that I have misconstrued your meaning. Nor will I nitpick you about exercising your likely well-earned arrogance while engaged in such word-editing--though I wonder if what you feel as you pore over fractured, inscrutable sentences that pass under your watch is more like exasperation or irritation (and a kind of pressure) that there but for the grace of you (not intended snidely), these aforesaid fractured sentences would find their way into public purview. As a writer who is genuinely grateful for the keen eyes of skillful copyeditors, I am pleased that you and yours are at the gate.

Best,
Marguerite Del Giudice
