Was that Vista out of the box (with Aero and all the other eye-candy
turned on)? Because if you turn all that garbage off, I don't find it so
very slow, and I have only 1 Mb of RAM, and some of that is being shared
by the VGA circuitry. Of course, I'm not running many Windows native
apps: Open Office, Tbird & Firefox, and a CD/DVD burning app that came
with the system.
And there is _definitely_ less jerky cursor in Xy than under XP, esp.
when it's runnnig on the second monitor.
Another Good Thing in Vista (but why did it take Redmond 10 years to
come up with it?): if you go to copy a file (by drag and drop) to a
folder that already has a file of that name, you are given three
choices: Copy and overwrite; don't; or copy and rename one of the files
so you have both.
I hope no one will accuse moi of being a shill or apologist for
Microsludge, but give the devil his due.
