But doesn't the phrase have further connotations? As "We hear you," and
"Let's hear it for [the speaker]"? If one were going to translate into
Latin, a simple "Attendite" wouldn't cover it. You'd need to add "Euge"
and "Fiat" and perhaps even "Plaudite." Ah, the riches of English!
