No, the answer to your prayers is func AS (or simply ABort the result
file to return to the original screen). The original file is in the
Alternate Screen. TT started out as a true toggle (hence the name),
but the restore required embedding all of the tags in non-
printing/non-displaying IV or NT deltas, making the result
effectively useless for any non-Xy-related purpose.

It's func MK. The description reads "Toggle display of format markers
and line ending markers". Be warned, however, that func MK alone does
nothing if the current display state is eXPanded view. The usual KBD
workaround is
nn=WG,MK
although if you want the markers-on view to be something other than
draft view (e.g., Page-Line), you can have that:
nn=SP,MK

No, NT tags are not protected. ... must be embedded
elsewhere in your file -- maybe at top and bottom?

You picked a good winter to migrate South. It's been nonstop snow and
frigid temperatures in NYC (although the mercury hit 50 F. today).
