In my view, the user-chosen extensions (a.k.a. add-ons) are of *crucial* importance.  They are what has made Firefox what it has been, much differentiated from Chrome, Opera, IE, which have never really been comparable in that department. 

In addition to the more than 15 varied extensions that I've used regularly for quite some time, I keep discovering new ones that look promising.  For example, a category that I hoped might exist, though I only just recently found some candidates for this, which claims to be able to annotate web pages, for purposes of illustration.  These include: Usersnap, Awesome Screenshot, Surfmark, and Fireshot.  One or another of them is probably good.  Previously, I was advised to just capture .Jpg snapshots and mark them up with the built-in Windows Paint or Draw, but one of these extensions is apt to be a much more convenient and preferable option.  https://usersnap.com/

But what would be the point of investigating promising solutions like this, if they are all poised to become inoperable because Firefox is messing around with their product again ? 
"If it aint' broke, DON'T fix it !" seems to be an alien concept, in the world of applications software.

    This extended support release does not follow the speedy cycle of
