REXX was engendered simply because TTG had the desire to make programming in
XY simpler and easier for all the non-"programming wonks".
And the problem is that they are already playing to a diminishing
audience and have been for some time -- they need to do something
to capture a larger market share, and the only hope for that is
by enhancing XY's technical superiority, not reducing it. And not
by holding the status quo. If TTG were to try to simply make
inroads into the market of Word Perfect by emulating it, they
wouldn't have a prayer. On the other hand, a startup operation
named StarDivision was able to truly kick Word Perfect's AND
MS-Word's butt in the very large German market just because they
had a technically superior product that ran on OS/2 as well as
windoz. Does that give you a clue about what is happening in the
word processor market?
