Carl, Harry, Thanks for the tip. I've now defined a toggle in my .kbd file which cycles through the ruler functions: TABLE=CTRL 19=NR In Xy3, only 2 options appear to be available: ruler with SPACES & tab stops, or a line in place of the ruler; whereas in Xy4 there is an additional option which removes one line from the command area and adds one line to the text area, gaining real estate as Harry says. Screenshot attached shows the results.
