There is an alternative to XyWin versus Xy3 that might satisfy your
colleagues. The Xy4 DOS interface installs, by default, with a "Common User
Access" interface that was designed specifically to emulate a Windows-type
program: Pull-down menus across the top, dialog boxes for entering
information, a keyboard with many familiar shortcuts. The ALT table in the
keyboard file isn't set up for running macros, but it can be easily modified
to do so without interfering with Windows (since it's running in a DOS box).

You can also install Xy4DOS to emulate much of Xy3 -- command line, no menus,
etc.
