I have now tested EMSMagic 1.1 and it does indeed provide EMS for XY4.
I have also, finally, managed to get the UK dictionary to work. If you
want to try, you need to set:
default ZX=0
default OM=31
in STARTUP.INT in order to get it to work.
Thanks for pointing me towards the older version of EMSMagic.
