VDOS memory

PS Does the VDOS installer do anything other than create a directory and
copy the VDOS files into it? I carried out a manual install and that is
all I did. Perhaps something is missing?

Do you suppose VDOS require a 64bit operating system? I'm running it
under 32 bit Windows XP. Could that affect the memory actually made
available?
I'm clutching at straws here but I just loaded VDOS onto an IMB laptop
with XP and I got exactly the same 'not enough memory .. ' message with
the speller so the problem is not directly associated with my hardware.
