Re: ftp programs

Yes, there's a DOS program, FTP. EXE. You may have to search to find it. On
the other hand, it might be already on your path. Get a DOS prompt and type

FTP
If that works and you get an FTP prompt, type:
?
followed of course by the ENTER key to execute it.

That will show you the commands. The most important ones are:
bye <--- exit FTP
put <--- send a file to the remote server--e.g.,
put c:\FOO.BAR foo.bar
that will send an uppercase file named FOO.BAR up to your server and name
it lower case: foo.bar. Of course, you could specify any other name--e.g.,

put oldname.txt NewName.txt

get filename

GET works like PUT. If you omit the second filename in either, it uses the
same filename as the first.

OPEN www.mysite.com

Lets you log in to that site.

That should be enough to get you going.

did someone say there was an ftp manager of some sort built into windows? Where? andy t ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Tuesday, January 13, 2009 4:52 PM Subject: RE: KEYBOARDS
I posted that Lifehacker link because so many of my fellow Xylisters are such keyboard fanatics (maybe if I'd ever used a decent keyboard I'd be one too). I noticed that some favorites were missing and guessed there would be an outcry. I can only assume that there was not much of a broad response to their request for candidates, because the keyboards y'all recommend sound very nice. -BH -----Original Message----- From: J R FOX Interesting post (and not to slight a worthy entry like the IBM) . . . but any such list that does not include the Omni's or the Avant is lacking in credibility.
